Confederate

Brooke, Sub-pattern IV

DIAMETER:  6.3 inches
GUN: 6.4-inch Brooke Rifle
LENGTH: -
WEIGHT: About 95 pounds
CONSTRUCTION: Bolt
SABOT: Brooke milled base, wrought-iron
FUZING: None

This specimen was fired into a Federal ironclad vessel.  The amount it has "up set" is interesting, indicating that most of its energy was used against itself, rather than the armor.  The Brooke milled base system was effective, as the engraving of the lands of the gun are quite visible.
