Note the high-band sabot usually found on this Read pattern. This Read projectile was manufactured at the Selma Arsenal, in Selma, Alabama. This pictured specimen was recovered from Milledgeville, Georgia. At least one specimen was recovered from the 1862 Shiloh Battlefield in Tennessee where Watson's Louisiana Battery had four rifles of this caliber engaged.
