Parrott
This specimen is an example of a Federal 10-pounder (2.9-inch
caliber) Parrott projectile. This projectile was found exploded in the ground and
reassembled. Note that the projectile burst into random size fragments. No two
artillery projectiles ever fragmented in a similar pattern unless they possessed a
polygonal-cavity interior.
