This unfired specimen
was found with a Giradey percussion fuze. The base is slightly rounded and has no
evidence of a lathe dimple, although it was turned on a lathe. Note the crude lathe
grooves on the body and sabot of the projectile. Most specimens of this pattern have
been recovered from South Carolina.
